Which is one of the reasons I love it so much. Where most soaps have a very serious atmosphere, Passions is more light-hearted and funny. Passions is bound to have you laughing more often than most soaps will. Whether it's the crazy storylines, the silly and ridiculous scenes, or the fact that it's constantly breaking of the fourth wall. This show really doesn't take itself seriously. So whether it's a full on storyline or a brief scene there's bound to be something you'll recognize. All of which are characters from Bewitched. On many occasions, Tabby can be heard referring to her parents as Samantha and Darrin and she's also made mention that Endora was the name of her grandmother. Tabby has mentions Skull Island at least a few times during the shows run, which is in reference to King Kong. They've also got a character that is the female version of Norman Bates who shows up every so often. ![]() There was a musical number, that was very much advertised, to show how Tabitha met Esmeralda that was basically just the Passions version of Wicked. ![]() They even had a big elaborate storyline that was basically the De Vinci Code. ![]() They've done everything from the Wizard of Oz to Bollywood to The Osbournes. This show is full of pop culture references. There's even a few good witches, one of which is a main character, but they don't show up until later in the show. They have a character that's simply known as Angel Girl, who will come down from heaven to stop Tabby's evil plots and later to help Tabby's living doll Timmy get his deepest wish. Though not every thing supernaturally based is evil. Most noteably, Zombie Charity and the Demon Elf. Demons have also made the occasional appearance. She's even got the gates of hell in her basement. They even have their own resident witch Tabitha. Specifically witches, magic, and the like. Whereas most soaps center their storylines around the relationships of their characters the common theme in Passions is the supernatural. Okay yeah it is a soap but like I've said already it's not your average soap. I will attempt to explain why and in doing so show you why, if you never give any other soap a try, why this one is one worth watching. Yes it's a soap but it's far from your typical every day soap. ![]() Okay so I know what you're probably thinking.
